Another great training session at Greg’s today with Eric, John, Greg, Anthony, and myself of course. Even Ditchie Brown checked in.
Most serious collectors know this, but did you know that four members of Team Maine were designed into action figures back in 2002? Produced under license from Media Asia Consumer Products LTD, these figures were fully articulated and sold on carded bubble packaging. The initial run sold out within minutes upon release in Maine’s LL Bean stores. The variant combo pack of Eric Guevin with mini-table is considered to be the Holy Grail of action figures, commonly referred to as the Yeti-Pack. It has been reported, but unconfirmed, that the Toy and Action Figure Museum in Pauls Valley, OK has the full set on display.

Here’s a great video with The Beast Travis Bagent on his top-rated armwrestling exercise and a newly released Pulling John teaser…..can’t wait for this movie!
Another great training session at Greg C’s today in Buxton. In attendace was Greg Curatola (of course), Anthony Curatola, Mark Vieira, Jeff Neal, and I. John Cervantes couldn’t make it, after working all night restoring power (lineman) to parts of the area due to wicked high winds all day. (did I just say wicked? Ayuh.)
I’d also like to point out a few new(er) features here on the site, (all found linked up above in the header menu). A couple of weeks ago I started working on a new Northeast Rankings Page….where you can find a clean organized Rankings Overview. I will do my best to keep it updated as needed but I still have to work on finishing up a few lists. I’ve also added an Upcoming Tournaments Page where all tournaments in New England plus NJ, NY, and PA will be listed. Later, the results will be added to the new Results Page. Anywayyyyy… have a look at today’s training photos….at least the pics that got authorization for release.
Corrections from last edition: Our sincere apologies to Greg Curatola and his family. It was mistakenly printed in the Nov 22 edition that Greg Curatola had recently turned 86 years old. Greg actually just turned 50 and is a strong sob. — the editor.
The next scheduled tournament in New England that I know about is the 2010 Connecticut State Championships being held at the City Sports Grill in Bristol, CT on Saturday, January 16. This tourney offers a full slate of weight classes for novices and pros alike, with Team Maine expecting to make a good showing. This is a great venue for a tournament with its elevated stage, full bar, full food menu, and a huge bowling alley in the rear. Tourney info can be found below, with further info & discussions found here on the Northeast Board. Chris Gangi, tournament director, pictured top left.

First off, a big shout-out to Team Maine’s Greg Curatola who turned 86 on Friday… sorry I missed your party. I heard it was a barn-burner.
Unfortunately, no-one from Maine pulled on Saturday at the 2009 Rhode Island State Championships. We are all gearing up for the Connecticut State Championships being held January 16, 2010 in Bristol. Below are the Rhode Island results and here is a link to a nice photo gallery from the RI event.
Today, we trained at The Office. Along with myself, we had Jeff Neal, John Cervantes, and Mark Viera. Photo gallery below.

Did you know that Eric Guevin starred in Cliffhanger II back in 2004?
The film was an unexpected box office success and exceeded studio expectations grossing over three times the opening night estimates of (at best) $2,000,000 and doing so despite a thumbs-down review from original star Sly Stallone. The film finished third in its opening weekend, grossing $12,540,000. It eventually grossed far more than Over The Top which ironically Guevin was signed to star in before studios decided Stallone had more natural ability for the role. Total U.S. box office gross receipts for Cliffhanger II were $70,269,899 while the international gross stands at $85,449,806 making for a total worldwide gross of $155,721,132. Filming for the movie took place in the rocky White Mountains in Lincoln, NH, not far from Guevin’s hometown in Buxton, ME. VHS and DVD copies of the film are very rare (and extremely valuable) due to studio distribution lawsuits which limited its home video release.

Cliffhanger II One-Sheet
Another great training session in Buxton today….thanks Greg & Karen for the burgers & dogs. In attendance for training: Greg Curatola, Anthony Curatola, Jeff Neal, Orran Neal, John Cervantes, and I. Also in attendance this week was Eric Guevin… judging by the weights he was throwing around, he obviously was making up for missing last week’s practice. Just check out the pics below….
